Therapeutic Mammoplasty
This is a wide local excision through a reduction pattern.
Benefits: This allows a patient to obtain a more youthful breast profile and a smaller breast whilst removing the cancer. If you have ever wanted a breast reduction, this might be the time to achieve this.
Like breast reduction, the scar may be anchor shaped or lollipop shaped (see breast reduction). You will be in hospital between one to two days and you may have a drain in for one to two days.
Complications include but are not limited to: bleeding haematoma, infection, loss of nipple sensation, full or partial loss of nipple.
